MADE FOR THE FLOOR

For stores teams, goods-in, maintenance and production staff who need to know where a part is kept, using a parts and locations list exported from a stock system or spreadsheet.

A USEFUL STARTING POINT

Your parts list becomes a lookup, not another system

The answer to where a part is kept often sits in a spreadsheet or a stock system export. FindBench puts a scan-friendly lookup over that file on a phone, tablet or PC. It shows every row that matches exactly, says Not found in this reference when nothing does, and keeps the file's title, declared date and load time on screen, because a file loaded today can still be out of date.

FROM FILE TO LOCATION

Three steps from a file to an answer.

  1. 01

    Load your reference

Choose a UTF-8 CSV and its delimiter, check the first five rows, then map the code, description, location and note columns. Columns you leave out are listed, and no rows are silently removed.

  2. 02

    Scan or enter a code

Use the device camera, a keyboard barcode scanner or the keyboard. Leading zeroes, case and spaces all count, so the code on screen is exactly the code that was looked up.

  3. 03

    Read every listed location

Each matching row shows its location, description, note and row number in your file. Download the lookup as CSV or PDF, or save the reference on this device for next time.

WHAT IT DOES

What a reference lookup needs.

  1. 01

Every match, never just the first

One part can be listed in several places. FindBench shows every exact matching row, marks identical repeats and warns when a code has different descriptions, so you review the file instead of trusting a guess.

  2. 02

    Look up a location too

Switch to Location to listed codes, scan a bin or rack label and see every code your file lists against it.

  3. 03

    Exact codes you can see

Spaces at either end of a code show as ␣ and hidden control characters are shown by name, so a near miss is easy to spot.

  4. 04

    Camera or keyboard scanner

Scan with a phone, tablet or laptop camera, or use a USB or Bluetooth scanner that types like a keyboard and ends each code with Enter or Tab. Typing works too.

  5. 05

    Results you can keep

Download the lookup as CSV with source row numbers and repeat and conflict flags, or as an A4 PDF with the reference title, dates, the code and every matching row.

  6. 06

    Ready for offline use

Choose Prepare for offline use while connected. The tool's files, camera decoder and report font are stored, so loading a reference, lookups and downloads keep working without a signal.

WHERE YOUR REFERENCE IS KEPT

On this device, and nowhere else.

Work is temporary by default: closing or refreshing the tab loses it. Save on this device keeps the reference in this browser between visits, for anyone using the same browser profile. A saved project keeps the mapped columns, original row numbers, title, dates and last lookup, not the original file or the columns you left out. It is not a cloud backup, so use Download a backup to keep a copy or move the reference to another device. Your reference is never uploaded.

USED IN PRODUCTION

From a reference file to everyday work.

FindBench answers one question from a file you load. Two SmartFACT services handle work that repeats every day: keeping line-side locations refilled from stores, and keeping reference data in Google Sheets for your applications to query. Both are in early access, with scope agreed at onboarding.

Early access

RefillFlow

Knowing where a part is kept is one job; keeping that place stocked is another. Scan an empty container's card at the line and RefillFlow sends one refill request to stores, prints the ticket there and tracks the pick and delivery. Approved plain English rules set the stores queue, priority and escalation.

Early access

ConfigSheets

If your reference lives in a spreadsheet that you export again every time it changes, ConfigSheets keeps that data in Google Sheets and makes it available as structured data your applications can query, including filtered lookups by code. FindBench itself reads only the CSV you load.

BEFORE YOU START

A few practical answers.

Is it really free?

Yes. Loading a reference, lookups, saving, backups, offline use and every download are free, with no account, email address, trial or watermark. File-size limits keep the browser reliable, and they are the same for everyone.

What do I need?

A recent browser on a phone, tablet or computer, and your parts and locations list saved as a UTF-8 CSV. A camera or a USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner that types like a keyboard is optional: you can type codes instead.

Does it work without internet?

Once prepared. Open FindBench while connected and choose Prepare for offline use. When it reports the prepared release, loading a reference, lookups and downloads work without a connection. The first visit needs the internet, and so do these pages.

Does a listed location mean the part is there?

No. FindBench shows what your file says. A listed location is not proof that a part is on the shelf, that it is available or that it may be put there. The reference title, its declared date and the time it was loaded stay on screen and in the PDF, so everyone can see how old the answer is.

What are the limits?

FindBench shows what your file lists. It is not a stock system: there are no quantities, availability, reservations, movements or put-away, and a listed location is not proof that a part is there. Matching is exact text, so 000017 and 17 are different codes, and there is no partial, wildcard or case-insensitive search. One reference is open at a time, and FindBench never refreshes it or connects to your ERP, a spreadsheet service or a web address. Imports are UTF-8 CSV with one header row, up to 5 MiB, 10,000 rows and 40 columns, with locations up to 120 characters and descriptions and notes up to 500. XLSX files are not read, so save the sheet as CSV first.

What happens to my data?

Your reference stays in this browser. Work is temporary by default, and Save on this device keeps it between visits. The CSV, your scans and your downloads are never uploaded, and camera images are decoded on the device. No account or contact details are needed. Google Analytics is optional and loads only after you accept; it never receives codes, locations, descriptions or file contents. Use Analytics settings on these pages, or Change preference in the tool, to change your choice; see /privacy/.
