Small tools for the factory floor

FindBench is a free utility from SmartFACT: Smart Factory using AI, operated by Obsidian Black Ltd. It turns a parts and locations list you already keep into a barcode lookup on a phone, tablet or PC, without adopting another stock system.

It is useful on its own. Loading a reference, lookups, saving, backups and every download are free, with no account, trial or email address required. The tool does not call an AI service: matching is exact, predictable software.

What it is, and is not

FindBench looks up exact codes, or exact locations, in a CSV you load, and shows every matching row with its row number in your file. It is a reference lookup, not a stock system. It has no quantities, availability, reservations, movements or put-away, it never writes to your ERP and it never refreshes your file. A listed location is an entry in your file, not proof that a part is there. One reference is open at a time, on one device.

The workbench

ScannerBench shows exactly what a keyboard scanner sends. PrintBench checks that a printer reproduces a known PDF at the right size. FactoryCards creates 100 × 50 mm bin and rack cards. CountBench records stocktakes and cycle counts by location. BarcodeBench shows what is inside a barcode. ManifestBench checks distinct cartons against a manifest. CycleBench studies work cycles and changeovers. FeedBench inspects, maps and compares CSV and JSON files. MatchBench compares a reference scan with each label's exact value. TagBench makes clear review tags for items that need attention. When the same job repeats every day, the SmartFACT services below automate it with rules you describe in plain English.

Help and support

The privacy notice explains what the tool keeps and where. To report a defect or ask a question, use the SmartFACT support form, describing the problem with a synthetic example where you can. To suggest an improvement, use the feedback form. Help with the tool is free; there is no guaranteed response time, and bespoke integration work is a separate paid service.
